In our humble opinion Buzz Ricksons make the best sweatshirts in the world. There you go, we told you. This sweatshirt is based on the original weight of fabric and trim fit, from the birth of sportswear as we know it, in the 1930's and 1940's. The fabric is produced on original loop-wheeling machinery. These looms produce a tubular knit, which is the main body of the garment. This tubular knit has no side seams, just as they woukd have been made, back in the day. Each size requires a different size loom, so to make in this way is time consuming to set up and produce, and consequently is expensive. No one in the UK produces sweatshirts this way anymore. There are some pretenders but trust us they don't. But they still know how to do it in Japan, which is where these have been crafted. Just like with the selvedge denim machinery, that no one wanted in the 1980's when it was regarded as out of date, the Japanese had the vision to buy the machines and ship them to Japan. They do appreciate quality and all that was good in the old ways. Let's be thankful.
